Strolling through the historic center, one reaches Rocca Square, dominated by the majestic Civic Tower, which rises proudly and beautifully over the surrounding landscape. The Sibillini Mountains soar on the horizon, silhouetted against the blue sky; their imposing forms slope gently down to blend with softer, verdant hills, which follow one another like pearls in harmonious chains, until they lap the Adriatic Sea.
In the sunsets of the most beautiful seasons, the landscape is clothed in new light: pink and golden hues blend with the red of the sky, while small towns dot the land, standing proudly. In Petritoli, man has made this placid beauty his own, transforming it into a haven of serenity. At night, a constellation of lights piercing the darkness leaves one breathless: they look like luminous, flickering messages that ideally unite the distant mountains to the nearby hills, all the way to Fermo, whose Duomo, set in the dark sky, shines like a jewel in a tiara.
A few years ago, a fellow villager recounted how a girl from Milan, her guest, was deeply impressed by the way, in the streets of Petritoli, everyone greeted each other, conversed, and walked stretches of road together in the shadow of the Tower. The small gestures of courtesy, kindness and almost fraternity are the very soul of village life. Here you know that you can knock on any door, ask for help, and find someone ready to welcome you warmly, especially in difficult times.
