On Sunday, September 14, 2025, at 6 p.m., the St. Francis Museum Complex in Montefiore dell’Aso will host the opening of the photo exhibition“PORTRAIT OF A LAND – From Private Memory to Collective Memory.”
The exhibition brings together about200 imagesmade available by citizens of the municipalities of the Aso Valley and selected by the operators and volunteers of theAltidona Belvedere Association, which for years has been managing the Photo Library with the commitment to preserve and enhance the historical memory of the area.
The project, the result offour years of workand the collaboration of the municipal administrations of the valley’s 19 municipalities, restores an extraordinary fresco of daily life over the past century. The photographs recount customs, habits, spaces and relationships, transforming family and personal memories into ashared heritage, now accessible to the entire community.

In October, a conference with the participation of historians and scholars will accompany the presentation of theexhibition catalog, enriched with even more images and insights. A volume destined to become a tool for promoting and enhancing the cultural identity of the Aso Valley.
The exhibition will be open to the public untilNovember 30, 2025.
